I am currently occupying the second property in less than a year that I will be forced to vacate. I am not being evicted due to lack of payment, or disorderly conduct. I have not violated any lease agreement. I simply have the magnificent misfortune of finding the only two property holders in this whole fucking city who are incapable of taking advantage of the housing boom. The city shut down the loft complex we lived in for massive code violations after a mother and her two children were killed in a fire. Now I live in a townhouse in Brookhaven, where our property owner has sold their land to a hotel developer, and sometime around October (they're guessing) we will be forced out. Again. I can't wait to see what happens to the next place I live.
The show on friday went very well. Thank you to everyone who showed up and made us money. A very special thanks to D. Malibu and his cohorts, who were kind enough to provide us with "video art" projections behind us free of charge. I particularly liked the Nelly clip. We played better this time, it felt a little better, and M. Conly kept up wonderfully as our stand-in bassist. We are still looking for a permanent bassist by the way. If you are interested, contact the band.
On sunday, a small army of us attended the free flaming lips show at centennial park. It was fantastic. Well, the flaming lips were fantastic. The opener for them was an old burnout band from the 70s called Big Star (Ever wondered who did the "That 70s show" opening theme? Now you know.) and they were pretty bad, even for shitty camaro-rock. The flaming lips took stage 45 minutes late, and delayed their set even further when Wayne Coyne decided to climb into a huge inflatable plastic bubble and roll out over the crowd. After ten more minutes of "Wayne Coyne the human beach ball" he finally managed to roll back onto the stage and start the set. The set was mostly comprised of their hits (She don't use Jelly, Do you realize, Yoshimi, etc.), but they played a couple of choice covers with such happy go lucky vivacity you couldn't help but smile. Towards the beginning of the set they played their cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody", and made the whole crowd sing along. It was the most fun I've ever had hearing something so terrible. During "Bohemian" they also had a huge, very strange video playing behind them. It involved a naked woman sunbathing, and mistaking wasabi for sun screen. For their encore they covered "War Pigs". That was a little strange. The Lips are nowhere near being a metal band, so I'm not sure how I feel about the Sabbath cover.
All in all, a good weekend. Everyone was rather tense though, and I'm not sure why. Full Moon, maybe? Clouds were abounding, so the sky I could not see. Everything seems to be settling down now, and we have another show on sunday, this time at the shop in chamblee. If you didn't make it to the mulligan's show this past friday, you should definitely make it on sunday. We are playing with Contraption, and Blue of Noon. Both bands are good friends of ours, and stellar performers. The show is all ages, and if there is a cover, it won't be more than a measly $5. Contact me for very easy directions.

congratulations on the eviction. I would say I sympathize, but I don't think being displaced to a motel because my current building is soon to be occupied more densely than a tenement is the same thing.
I have to say the current apartment is one of the best smelling ones you've had to date. shame it has to be the one to go.
